Frequently asked questions

Can I listen without playing the game?

Yes. Every country page has a player for each 15 second clip and a link to the full recording on the archive that holds it. Nothing is behind a login.

Why does a country have exactly three recordings?

Three is what the game needs to offer a first, second and third song for one country. Countries with fewer freely licensed recordings are not listed yet and join when a third one is found and checked.

Is this a complete picture of a countryโ€™s music?

No. Three recordings are three moments, often from one region or one decade, chosen because they are freely licensed and sound like the place. Treat them as a door, not a survey.

Where do the recordings come from?

Wikimedia Commons and the Internet Archive, under public domain, CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA licences. The About the recordings page explains the checks and how clips are cut.
